To apply, shape the silk to suit the task at hand, either bunching it tightly to dispense precious metal powders or using a pinching motion to buff out the completed kintsugi repair.

Much like our Ashirai brushes, this mawata silk can also be employed to lightly dust precious metal powder onto a final urushi layer. Employing a gentle hand, gradually apply the powder up to the lacquer, allowing it to smoothly cover the repair. It's important to note that separate pieces of mawata silk should be used for each type of precious metal powder, similar to how you might use distinct Ashirai brushes for gold or silver.
